The American Association of Nurse Practitioners announced on July 15 the opening of nominations for its 2027 election. The organization, based in Austin, Texas, said it is seeking a diverse group of members to help guide the association and shape the future of the nurse practitioner role.
“Leadership is one of the defining qualities of the nurse practitioner profession,” said AANP President Valerie Fuller, PhD, DNP. “Whether you're leading at the bedside, in your practice or in your community, your perspective matters. I encourage qualified members to run for elected office and help guide the future of AANP and advance the profession we all care so deeply about.”
AANP stated that individual members who have been in good standing for at least twelve months prior to July 15 are eligible to self-nominate. Details about available leadership positions and eligibility requirements can be found on the AANP Elections webpage. The deadline for submitting nominations is Monday, August 31, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time.
“Health care is evolving and the NP role is growing,” Fuller said. “By serving as an elected leader at AANP, you will help make important decisions about our role today and our future tomorrow.”
The American Association of Nurse Practitioners describes itself as the largest professional membership organization representing nurse practitioners and NP students in the United States. The group says it advances health policy and promotes excellence in practice, education, and research to support high-quality patient-centered care.
