FARE (Food Allergy Research & Education) has announced the release of a new public service announcement (PSA) titled “Ready to Live,” as part of its Ready to Act campaign. The PSA features actor and food allergy parent Tia Mowry, who also serves as a FARE Ambassador.
The Ready to Act campaign began last year with a Super Bowl–timed PSA called “The Kitchen,” which featured Super Bowl champion and FARE Innovation Ambassador Jason McCourty and his daughter Kai preparing for a pickleball tournament. The latest spot, “Ready to Live,” continues the theme by showing party preparations after the game.
In the new PSA, Tia Mowry is shown hosting a gathering. She is seen checking food labels for allergens at the grocery store and later at the table with FARE CEO Sung Poblete, PhD, RN. Together, they demonstrate two methods for administering epinephrine and highlight the importance of being prepared to care for people with food allergies. Epinephrine is recognized as the only medication that can stop anaphylaxis, a severe allergic reaction.
Dr. Poblete stated, “Food allergy is life threatening, but being ready to act doesn’t have to feel heavy. These stories are about confidence and care. When people know the signs, have a plan and carry epinephrine, they’re better equipped to enjoy everyday moments and be there for one another.”
Mowry added, “As a host, creating a welcoming space means thinking about everyone at the table. Taking simple steps like checking labels and knowing how to respond in an emergency can make a real difference for people living with food allergy and help ensure everyone feels cared for and included.”
Earlier in the campaign, FARE released another spot featuring Angela Bassett that emphasized preparation as essential for those affected by food allergies.
The new PSA will be shown through donated media placements and will also be available on digital platforms as part of FARE’s ongoing efforts to raise public awareness about food allergies. More information can be found at www.foodallergy.org/readytoact.
