American Lung Association in Rhode Island announces inaugural gala to support lung health

The American Lung Association in Rhode Island will hold its first "The Affair for Air Gala" on November 14 at the Graduate Hotel in Providence. The event, presented by CVS Health, aims to raise funds for lung health research, local programs, and advocacy efforts in Rhode Island.

The gala will begin at 5:30 p.m. and encourages guests to dress in blue for the black-tie optional event. The evening will include a plated dinner featuring local cuisine, an open bar, and both live and silent auctions. Auction items include experiences such as trips to Tuscany, tropical vacations, tickets to Red Sox and Patriots games, and visits to New York City and Boston.

A highlight of the night will be a "Mission Moment" featuring Allison Lipka, who will speak about her mother's recent passing and share her personal story related to lung health.

CVS Health, which has been tobacco free for more than ten years, will receive the Landmark for Lung Health Award during the event.

“This is our first year hosting The Affair for Air Gala,” said Daniel Bowler, Executive Director, American Lung Association, Rhode Island. “The atmosphere will be electric, and attendees will have an unforgettable night at this unique event to promote lung health… because if you can’t breathe, nothing else matters.”

Proceeds from the gala will benefit approximately 181,000 Rhode Island residents living with lung disease. Tickets are priced at $250 each, and more information is available at TheAffairForAir.org.
