Baylor College adds two new trustees with extensive leadership experience

Two new members, W.D. “Dan” Hord III and Mark Rountree, have joined the Baylor College of Medicine Board of Trustees. They were appointed by the Board of Regents at Baylor University in Waco.

Hord is a 1989 graduate of Baylor University and is a partner in HEDLOC Investment Co. LLC, a private investment company, as well as H&H Properties and Western Property Group, all based in Midland. He serves on the board of directors for the Scharbauer Foundation and PathNorth. Last year, he was appointed to the Public Safety Commission by Governor Greg Abbott. Previously, Hord served on the Baylor University Board of Regents and the Executive Investment Committee for the Baylor Endowment.

Rountree graduated from Baylor University in 1986 and is a former chairman of the Baylor University Board of Regents. He chaired several committees including the Nominating Governance & Regent Leadership Committee and Audit Committee and was a member of the Executive Committee. Additionally, he served on the boards of the Buckner Foundation in Dallas and the EY Foundation. A retired senior partner at EY, Rountree led both the National Exempt Organizations Tax Practice and Americas Health Sciences Tax Practice.

“Baylor College of Medicine welcomes Mr. Hord and Mr. Rountree to our Board of Trustees," said Dr. Paul Klotman, President, CEO, and Executive Dean at Baylor College of Medicine. "Their financial and leadership background will be an asset to the College and our mission to advance human health and educate the next generation of scientists and clinicians."

Historically reflecting strong collaboration between institutions, Baylor University has appointed 25% of members to the Baylor College of Medicine Board of Trustees.
