This morning, over 700 participants gathered at Soldier Field Stadium in Chicago for the 2025 Fight For Air Climb. The event, locally presented by UnitedHealthcare, successfully raised more than $350,000 to support lung health initiatives.
The annual climb aims to assist the 1.4 million individuals living with lung disease in Illinois. Participants of varying skill levels tackled the first level of Soldier Field to generate funds for research, education, and advocacy related to lung health. Due to high temperatures and humidity, organizers modified the original 1,600-step route and introduced portable misting fans for climbers' safety.
A notable feature of this year's event was the Firefighter Challenge. Teams of firefighters participated while wearing full gear despite the heat, competing to be recognized as the top fundraising team supporting lung health.
Danielle Trojanek, Executive Director of the American Lung Association, expressed her gratitude: “We are very proud of our community who came out to climb Soldier Field in support of those impacted by lung disease.” She added that thanks to sponsors and participants, they were able to raise significant funds for ongoing efforts against lung cancer and lung disease in Illinois.
The Lung Association is already looking forward to next year’s event as it continues its mission to enhance lung health and prevent diseases affecting respiratory systems.
