Lung Force Sunset Soiree raises significant funds for lung health

On May 30, the American Lung Association in Florida held its 20th annual LUNG FORCE Sunset Soiree: Dancing with the Stars at the Ritz-Carlton Fort Lauderdale. The event raised nearly $300,000 to support efforts against lung cancer and lung disease.

The soiree featured a ballroom dancing competition for the first time. Matt Maxim, South Florida area manager at Tito’s Handmade Vodka, received the Celebrity Spotlight Award after raising nearly $25,000 through community support and donations. He performed a tango with professional dance partner Alexandra Nema from Fred Astaire Dance Studios Fort Lauderdale.

Other dancers included Olivia Berrios with Artem Sharov; Brooke Boles, a luxury real estate agent and host of “The American Dream,” with Ruslan Meshkov; and Danielle Williams, a medical sales executive, also paired with Sharov. All professional dancers are instructors at Fred Astaire Dance Studios.

Event co-chairs Drs. Caren and Glenn Singer expressed gratitude: “Thank you to our incredible dancers, guests and corporate partners for making our 20th anniversary event an unforgettable night that has fueled our lifesaving mission.” They emphasized that funds raised will support research into new treatments and help people live healthier lives.

Alexis Frazier from Channel 10 News served as master of ceremonies for the evening.

The Lung Association continues its work in South Florida, addressing issues like youth vaping and air quality while supporting over 3.2 million Floridians living with lung disease or cancer. For more information or donations, visit LUNGFORCESunsetSoiree.org.
