Midwest faces unhealthy air quality due to Canadian wildfire smoke

Areas in the Midwest, including parts of Illinois, are experiencing a decline in air quality due to smoke from Canadian wildfires. The smoke has led to several communities issuing air quality alerts. It poses health risks, particularly for sensitive groups such as children, older adults, and individuals with lung conditions like asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

The American Lung Association advises taking precautions to avoid lung irritation and health issues related to increased air pollution.
