American Lung Association appoints Keith Tyrka as chief information & technology officer

The American Lung Association has announced the appointment of Keith Tyrka as its new Chief Information & Technology Officer (CITO).

“Keith’s collaborative leadership style, deep experience and focus on aligning technology with mission impact make him a tremendous addition to our leadership team,” stated Harold Wimmer, President and CEO of the Lung Association. “As public health and our dedication to its preservation have never been more important, we welcome Keith’s expertise and contributions.”

Tyrka joins the organization with over 25 years of experience in technology, data strategy, cybersecurity, and digital transformation across various sectors including nonprofit, education, and private industries. Prior to this role, he served as Vice President of Planning, Performance and Technology at the College of DuPage in Illinois. There he managed information technology (IT), data analytics, enterprise applications, and security.

His previous roles include over ten years at Aunt Martha’s Health & Wellness where he was Vice President, Chief Information Officer (CIO), and HIPAA Security Officer. In that capacity, he led efforts in technology modernization, data strategy development, and cloud migration for the nonprofit healthcare agency. Additionally, Tyrka has held significant positions at DirectBuy and FirstGroup America.

Tyrka holds a master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in information systems from DePaul University. He also possesses numerous professional certifications including a recent certificate in Generative AI for Business Transformation from Cornell University.
