Cizik School of Nursing and UTHealth Houston School of Public Health have been named the best in Texas in the 2025 U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate Schools report. This achievement marks a repeat for the School of Public Health and a new accolade for the Cizik School of Nursing.
"We are immensely proud of Cizik School of Nursing and UTHealth Houston School of Public Health for consistently earning recognition as leading institutions in Texas and beyond,” stated LaTanya J. Love, interim president of UTHealth Houston. She emphasized that these rankings reflect the university's commitment “to excellence” and preparing professionals to address health care challenges.
The Doctor of Nursing Practice program at the Cizik School of Nursing was ranked first in Texas and tied for 33rd nationally, while the Master of Science in Nursing program was placed second in Texas and tied for 41st nationally. Dean Diane Santa Maria highlighted the school's goal "to lead the advancement of health and high-quality health care for all." The school is also the top recipient of research funding from the National Institutes of Health among Texas nursing schools.
The UTHealth Houston School of Public Health maintained its top position in Texas and is ranked ninth nationally among public institutions and 27th overall among 209 universities offering public health graduate programs. Eric Boerwinkle, dean of the School of Public Health, expressed gratitude for being recognized, acknowledging the resilience and importance of public health despite challenges.
UTHealth Houston provides distinct opportunities for interprofessional training, beneficial for its students.
