LUNG FORCE Heroes gather in Washington D.C. for more lung cancer research support

LUNG FORCE Heroes, individuals impacted by lung cancer, will travel to Washington, D.C., on April 9 for the American Lung Association’s 2025 LUNG FORCE Advocacy Day, marking a decade of advocacy efforts. The event seeks to amplify the voices of survivors, caregivers, and advocates who urge lawmakers to support lung cancer initiatives.

"“For the past decade, LUNG FORCE Advocacy Day has united thousands of voices to take action and inspire hope in our work to end the burden of lung cancer,”" stated Harold Wimmer, President and CEO of the American Lung Association. He noted concerns that federal budget cuts and policy changes threaten to hinder progress in research and care.

LUNG FORCE, established in 2014 with its first advocacy day in 2016, has significantly influenced lung cancer research and awareness. This year, participants will focus on safeguarding research funding at the National Institutes of Health, public health measures at the Centers for Disease Control, and Medicaid health coverage.
