Baylor College director among new AAAS Fellows for 2024

Dr. Pavan Reddy, the director of the Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center at Baylor College of Medicine, has been selected as one of the 2024 Fellows by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). His election recognizes his work in advancing patient care and controlling graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), offering key insights into the immunological modulation of the disorder.

Reddy’s focus is on basic and translational transplantation immunology, studying the immunological and tissue-centered mechanisms behind GVHD and the positive effects of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, specifically the graft-versus-leukemia (GVL) effect.

Having joined Baylor in 2022, Reddy received his medical degree from Osmania Medical College in India and completed his residency at the University of Missouri. His hematology-oncology and blood and bone marrow transplantation fellowships were conducted at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

The 2024 AAAS Fellow class comprises 471 individuals from 24 different scientific fields. Each fellow being recognized for significant achievements will receive a certificate and a gold and blue rosette pin. The celebration will occur at a forum in Washington, D.C., on June 7.

Baylor College of Medicine has seen many of its members previously elected as AAAS Fellows, including Drs. C. Thomas Caskey, Bert O’Malley, and more, with elections spanning over thirty years from 1990 to 2023.
