Mayo Clinic enhances collaboration with American Hospital Dubai for healthcare transformation

American Hospital Dubai and Mayo Clinic have announced an expanded collaboration aimed at enhancing healthcare delivery, medical education, and research in Dubai. The announcement was made during Arab Health 2025, held from January 27 to 30 at the World Trade Centre in Dubai.

This partnership emphasizes both institutions' commitment to transforming patient care and innovation, strengthening Dubai’s status as a leader in global healthcare. A significant aspect of this collaboration is the establishment of Dubai’s first Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) medical school. Designed with guidance from the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science, this initiative aims to nurture future healthcare leaders and set new standards for medical education in the region.

Sherif Beshara, Group CEO of American Hospital Dubai, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration's potential. "We are excited to take our collaboration with Mayo Clinic to new heights," he stated. "Our expanded scope is committed to setting new benchmarks in patient care by enhancing clinical practices and promoting education and research."

The enhanced relationship will also focus on optimizing clinical practices at American Hospital Dubai through cutting-edge technology integration and improving operational efficiencies. As part of the collaboration, a healthcare simulation center for advanced medical training will be developed alongside efforts to streamline workflows and enhance subspecialty service lines.

Jorge Pascual, M.D., pulmonologist and Interim President of Mayo Clinic International, highlighted the importance of this partnership. "By combining Mayo Clinic's expertise with American Hospital Dubai's capabilities and vision, we deliver innovative solutions that elevate patient care while establishing new medical education and research benchmarks," he said.

Biju Samkutty, Chief Operating Officer of Mayo Clinic International and Enterprise Automation, emphasized the educational aspects: "The establishment of this medical school is a testament to our shared commitment to clinical and educational excellence."

This strengthened collaboration builds on American Hospital Dubai's existing foundation as a member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network since 2013. It also extends into research innovation with plans for developing a clinical research infrastructure underpinned by Mayo Clinic’s expertise.
