Orlando promotes lung health with stair-climbing events in January

People in Central Florida and across the nation are being encouraged to take the stairs on January 8 for National Take the Stairs Day. This initiative aims to promote lung health and encourage participation in the American Lung Association's Fight For Air Climb Orlando event, scheduled for March 8 at City National Bank Tower.

The Lung Association highlights that taking the stairs can improve balance, coordination, and strengthen major muscle groups. By joining the Fight For Air Climb Orlando, participants can turn stair-climbing into a regular healthy habit while supporting over 3.2 million Floridians affected by lung diseases such as lung cancer, COPD, and asthma.

Amy Carlson, chair of the Fight For Air Climb Orlando and senior vice president at City National Bank, stated: “Take advantage of the fresh start effect by skipping the elevator on National Take the Stairs Day and begin stair-climbing as a healthy habit this year. It’s a full body workout, and your lungs will thank you!” She further invited community members to join the event on March 8: “There’s no better feeling than conquering City National Bank Tower’s 512 stairs alongside friends, neighbors and first responders—all while raising critical funding to support people who fight for every breath.”

The event supports efforts to defeat lung cancer, advocate for clean air, enhance life quality for those with lung disease, and promote a tobacco-free future. The Lung Association invites families, friends, first responders, and corporate teams from Central Florida to participate in this event.
