The American Lung Association in Boston will hold its 10th Annual LUNG FORCE Walk Boston at DCR Hopkinton State Park on October 19. The event aims to raise $90,000 to support lung health education, advocacy, and research.
Registration is now open at LUNGFORCE.org/Boston.
The LUNG FORCE Walk is a three-mile event designed to provide critical funds for lung cancer research, early detection initiatives, and awareness. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Lung Association’s nationwide movement to defeat lung cancer—LUNG FORCE. In addition, the American Lung Association celebrates its 120th anniversary since its founding in 1904.
“Thanks to all of our amazing volunteers, participants and LUNG FORCE Heroes, we are truly making an impact on lung cancer in Massachusetts and we are thrilled to bring this event to the DCR Hopkinton State Park for the first time! Nationally, since 2014, LUNG FORCE has raised more than $30 million for lifesaving lung cancer research, expanding our research commitment by 286%,” said Ashley Carrier, Executive Director of the American Lung Association in Massachusetts.
Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer deaths among people in the U.S., with someone diagnosed every two minutes. However, survival rates have increased by over 50% in the past decade.
LUNG FORCE Walk events encourage friends, family, and company teams to support individuals with lung disease and lung cancer while enjoying exercise and camaraderie. Participation supports the American Lung Association's efforts to defeat lung cancer, improve air quality, reduce the burden of lung disease on individuals and families, and eliminate tobacco use and related diseases.
