Baylor announces ten honorees for achievements in research, teaching and patient care

Baylor College of Medicine has announced ten honorees to be recognized at the 2024 Alumni Awards ceremony, scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 17 at Texas Medical Center Helix Park. The awards are presented annually to Baylor alumni and faculty for their career accomplishments in innovative research, outstanding patient care, and excellence in teaching. This year’s Lifetime Achievement Award recipient is O.H. “Bud” Frazier, M.D., a member of the class of 1967 and a resident from the class of 1974.

“I am honored for this recognition by Baylor College of Medicine Alumni and to be among the exemplary group of prior recipients,” Frazier said. “The contributions I have been able to make to the surgical treatment of advanced heart failure were initiated when, as a Baylor medical student, I began working with Drs. Liotta and DeBakey on the challenge of mechanical assistance and the replacement of the failing heart. To date, there have been more than 100,000 patients worldwide who have been treated with these devices that had their origin in the Baylor research laboratory.”
