Detroit Zoo hosts annual walk to support lung disease research

The Detroit community is invited to the 11th annual LUNG FORCE Walk at the Detroit Zoo on September 29 at 7:30 a.m. Friends and families can enjoy a fall morning walk and zoo visit for a good cause. The event supports lifesaving research, local programs, and advocacy for the 1.1 million people in Detroit suffering from lung disease.

Registration is open for the event, which welcomes hundreds of families, friends, co-workers, including lung disease survivors and their loved ones. Participants will come from across the greater Detroit area, throughout Michigan, and surrounding areas.

Participants will enjoy a 1.5-mile route through the Detroit Zoo or choose a shorter option. The Lung Association encourages participation in this community event for celebration, education, and camaraderie. Registration for individuals and teams is free, but fundraising is encouraged to support the mission of the American Lung Association. Participants will receive complimentary zoo admission.

The event will take place on Saturday, September 29, 2024. Check-in starts at 7:30 a.m., with the walk kicking off at 8:30 a.m., at the Detroit Zoo located at 8450 W 10 Mile Rd, Royal Oak, MI 48067.

The fundraising goal for this year’s Detroit LUNG FORCE Walk is $1100,000. Funds raised will support the Lung Association’s efforts toward a world without lung cancer and lung disease.
