Dr. Mary Dickinson has been named a 2023 Fellow by the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Dickinson, who serves as the senior vice president and dean of research at Baylor College of Medicine, is being recognized for her contributions to the field of animal development, imaging, and genetics in the global effort to determine the function of every gene in mice.
In response to this recognition, Dickinson expressed her gratitude, stating, "It is an honor to be named a Fellow by the AAAS for my work in advancing science and its applications in service to society."
Throughout her career, Dickinson has made significant strides in the scientific community. Under her leadership at Baylor College of Medicine, the Office of Research has expanded clinical research space, increased funding support, and strengthened collaborative ties internally and with affiliate institutions.
Dickinson's research focuses on understanding the mechanisms underlying congenital birth defects and the genetic basis for disease using mouse models. Her dedication to the field has led to her election as a Fellow alongside 501 other scientists, engineers, and innovators this year.
