Yale Director John Forrest: 'We are proud that the Structural Heart Program at Yale New Haven Health Heart and Vascular Center and now Bridgeport Hospital has been recertified and certified'

John Forrest, director of the structural heart program at Yale University, spoke about his institution's Transcatheter Valve Certification and the medical impact it will have on its patients. Yale is the first facility in Connecticut to receive this certification.

"We are proud that the Structural Heart Program at Yale New Haven Health Heart and Vascular Center and now Bridgeport Hospital has been recertified and certified, respectively, by ACC for Transcatheter Valve Certification," said Forrest. "This achievement highlights our talented and experienced team and the quality of care that has come because of a multidisciplinary approach to providing evidence-based, patient-centered care in a shared decision-making format," according to a Yale New Haven Health press release.

Forrest is a versatile figure in the health sector. Besides serving as an associate professor of medicine, he also holds positions as the director of structural heart medicine and the director of interventional cardiology. At Yale, his work revolves around national and international issues in the transcatheter field. His educational background stems from Yale University School of Medicine, according to the Yale University website.

According to its website, as one of Connecticut's health care systems, Yale New Haven Health works to deliver care to all its patients. The organization oversees five hospitals, each varying in specialties, patient demographics, and capabilities. With more than 2,000 employees on its payroll, Yale New Haven Health stands as the state's second-largest employer.

The Transcatheter Valve Certification (TAVR) was conferred upon Yale New Haven Health on Feb. 5, as per its website. TAVR is a minimally invasive procedure designed to replace the aortic valve in certain patients. The certification acknowledges the care, specialty services, and quality that Yale New Haven Health provides to patients undergoing transcatheter valve replacement.
