Akili CEO: 'We're thrilled to make EndeavorOTC available to adults who can benefit'

Digital medicine company Akili Interactive recently introduced EndeavorOTC, an engaging mobile video game treatment intended to enhance attention and focus in adults diagnosed with ADHD.

According to Akili's website, EndeavorOTC, now accessible on the Apple App Store, is built on the same technology as the pioneering FDA-approved video game treatment for children with ADHD, EndeavorRx. Akili's EndeavorOTC is specifically designed for adults aged 18 years and older and is available without a prescription. The launch of EndeavorOTC follows a successful clinical trial, indicating significant enhancements in focus, attention and overall quality of life for adults grappling with ADHD symptoms.

"Without reliable access to ADHD medication or sufficient mental health care professionals to meet demand, millions of Americans are in urgent need of new validated and accessible treatment options," CEO Eddie Martucci said, according to the Akili website. "Patients want better (treatments), and they want non-drug treatment options. The core technology inside EndeavorOTC has helped thousands of children with ADHD, and recently has shown it dramatically helped adults in our clinical trial improve their focus, time management and organizational skills, and their ability to keep track of important items. We're thrilled to make EndeavorOTC available to adults who can benefit."

According to Akili, EndeavorOTC and EndeavorRx blend medicine and mobile gaming, and were developed in collaboration between renowned cognitive neuroscientists and esteemed entertainment and technology designers. Powered by Akili's patented Selective Stimulus Management Engine (SSME) core technology, these digital treatments have been extensively validated in over a dozen clinical trials for various cognitive-impacting conditions, such as ADHD, depression, multiple sclerosis and autism spectrum disorder.

"The transformative technology at the heart of EndeavorOTC has been instrumental in aiding numerous children with ADHD, and our recent clinical trial has demonstrated its remarkable efficacy in significantly enhancing focus, time management, organizational skills and the ability to stay on top of important matters for adults," Martucci said on the Akili website.

According to Akili's clinical trial findings, a staggering 83% of participants experienced notable improvements in their focus, while 73% reported enhancements in their quality of life, including timely task completion, multitasking proficiency and effective management of essential items.

"I'm delighted to see new technology used to develop a unique approach to treatment, and a video game treatment is a fun and engaging way to empower adults with ADHD," Duane Gordon, president of the Attention Deficit Disorder Association, told Akili's website.
