UNC (University of North Carolina) Health hospitals were honored by the American Heart Association.
Eight UNC Health hospitals have been granted the American Heart Association Achievement Award for providing quality service to cardiovascular patients, which results in patients’ having shorter recovery periods, fewer trips back to the hospital and more lives saved.
“UNC Health is honored to be recognized by the American Heart Association for our dedication to helping our patients have the best possible chance of survival and recovery after cardiovascular events,” said Dr. David Huang, director of the UNC Hospitals Stroke Center, according to UNC Health Newsroom. “The Mission: Lifeline and Get with the Guidelines programs help put proven knowledge and guidelines to work on a daily basis to improve outcomes for cardiovascular patients.”
UNC Hospitals, UNC Lenoir Health Care, UNC Pardee Health Care, UNC REX Health Care, UNC Nash Health Care, UNC Johnston Health Care, UNC Onslow Health Care and UNC Health Blue Ridge all were recognized by the American Heart Association for their outstanding work with cardiovascular patients.

Approximately half of all adults in the U.S. have experienced some form of cardiovascular disease, including heart attack, stroke and heart failure, according to UNC Health Newsroom. For patients with these conditions who need to be transported to the hospital, time is of the essence.
