Providence announces $220 million in bonuses: 'Our caregivers are the heart of our mission, values and promise'

Providence, one of the largest health care systems in the U.S., has announced an investment of over $220 million to fund programs that will reward its dedicated caregivers and incentivize the recruitment of new members.

The investment will fund a $1,000 recognition bonus for caregivers, accelerated recruitment to immediately fill 17,000 job openings and caregiver referral bonuses between $1,000 and $7,500.

"Our caregivers are the heart of our mission, values and promise,” Providence Chief People Officer Greg Till told Cision PR Newswire. “In their service, Providence's family of organizations aspires to be the best place to work and practice. The programs we're announcing today build upon that commitment, and we're proud to continue supporting our caregivers and recognizing the essential role they play in our communities."

Every caregiver who has been with the organization for at least 90 days will receive a $1,000 bonus, according to Cision PR Newswire. The bonus is in recognition of their service and commitment to the job.

The investment to fill 17,000 job openings will help bolster the shortage in the workforce and sustain the current team members. Also, almost every vacant position is now eligible for a minimum $1,000 referral bonus, up to $7,500. These bonuses are for current Providence employees who refer new employees who get hired by Providence.

Providence is a nonprofit Catholic health system that serves Alaska, California, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas and Washington. It runs 52 hospitals, 1,000 physician clinics and employs over 120,000 caregivers.
