Some Americans will not get COVID-19 vaccine: 'The government has a serious journey ahead'

Premise, a market research platform, recently released its results on COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy in the U.S. and the U.K.

The poll conducted between Aug 5. and 17, through Premise's app, revealed that 33% of unvaccinated Americans say they will never get vaccinated.

"The U.S. government has a serious journey ahead in convincing its citizens about the importance of getting vaccinated," Maury Blackman, CEO of Premise, told Cision PR Newswire. "Through crowdsourced data, we learned about the stark differences in vaccine hesitancy in the U.S. versus the U.K. It is essential that our leaders build trust by educating Americans about the safety and efficacy of vaccines."

Of those Americans who are currently unvaccinated, 39% said they would not get vaccinated because they don't trust the government, according to Premise.

Only 21% of unvaccinated Americans say they are considering getting vaccinated if there were more proof the vaccines worked, and 49% want to receive more information on testing, safety and efficacy. U.S. authorities and public health officials need to redouble their efforts to tackle the concerns and convince the population to get the shot, if society as a whole wants to move beyond the pandemic.

The survey from Premise had approximately 5,000 participants in the U.S. and 1,000 participants in the U.K. American respondents were twice as likely not to have received a single dose of the COVID-19 vaccine (45%) than U.K. respondents (23%).
