Minneapolis health insurer Bright HealthCare expands its footprint into 42 new markets for 2022, including Texas, Georgia, Utah and Virginia.
Approximately 16.5 million eligible consumers can be reached by the company with the market expansion. Their presence will be in 17 states and 131 markets nationwide by 2022, according to Healthcare Finance News.
"Across nearly every one of our products and markets, consumers are choosing Bright HealthCare,” Simeon Schindelman, CEO of Bright HealthCare, told Healthcare Finance News. “This shows that our integrated Care Partner model works. Our continued growth in expansion states like Texas, as well as existing states like California and Florida, is further proof that our transformative model is not only meeting demand, but more importantly, lowering health care costs and improving quality for consumers while also building durable, trusting two-way relationships between consumers and primary care providers."
Apart from growing its product portfolio in states where it already does business, such as California, Bright HealthCare is also being added to California’s state-based health insurance exchange, Covered California.
As of the end of this year’s second quarter, approximately 663,000 Bright HealthCare consumers in 14 states and 99 markets were being served with the company’s commercial and Medicare health plan.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and/or final state regulatory will have to evaluate the benefit plan and provide approval for Bright HealthCare’s expansion before it is finalized.
