In effort to advocate for more affordable health care plans for Americans, Vice President Kamala Harris delivered a statement about the Build Back Better Agenda legislation at her recent visit to Unity Health Care's Brentwood Health Center in Washington, DC.
The Build Back Better Agenda aims to provide access to high-quality health care while decreasing the costs of insurance premiums and prescription copays for patients seeking medical care, regardless of income status.
"Unity Health Care is honored to have Vice President Kamala Harris visit our Brentwood Health Center," Vincent Keane, Unity's president and CEO, told Cision PR Newswire. "It is now more important than ever to ensure affordable and accessible health coverage for our patients and community members."
During the 2021 Special Enrollment Period, nearly three million Americans have enrolled in health care plans through the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which Harris spoke about at the event. The deadline to enroll in a plan with the ACA is Sunday, Aug. 15.
Unity Health Care sees a large number of patients who are either underinsured or have no insurance at all. Part of its mission is to provide patients with the care they need at a cost they can afford. The facility also has a network of over 20 traditional and nontraditional sites, providing a range of health and human services.
