The American Heart Association (AHA) has redefined its guideline for high blood pressure, according to a press release.
Those who have a reading of 130/80 will be considered to have high blood pressure, according to the AHA guideline outlined in the release. The old standard for high blood pressure was defined as 140/90.
However, the new standards may mean approximately half of all Americans have high blood pressure, meaning they are at risk for a plethora of health challenges, the release said.
