The Weill Cornell Medicine Department of Medicine and New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center have chosen Dr. Robert Burakoff as their ambulatory services vice chairman, and New York-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital and Weill Cornell Medicine have chosen Burakoff as their division of gastroenterology and hepatology site chief.
Burakoff started working in both posts Aug. 1, a New York-Presbyterian Hospital release said.
Burakoff was the Brigham and Women’s Hospital division of gastroenterology clinical chief and center for digestive health director, positions he had started in 2003. Burakoff also taught medicine at Harvard Medical School.
Burakoff has focused his 35 years of work on inflamed bowel disorders and digestive system and liver problems. He has given much of his focus to understanding and fighting long-term digestive tract inflammation or keeps coming back, conditions that are comprised of problems such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.
