University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center selects radiation oncologist for 2017 Young Investigator Award

The University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center recently awarded radiation oncologist Dr. Andrew Baschnagel with the 2017 Young Investigator Award, which provides funds to help launch a cancer research project.

Baschnagel, whose focus is helping people fight lung and chest-area cancers, said he will use the award to create a model using mice for studying non-small cell lung cancer that has made its way to the brain, a University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health release said.

Baschnagel and other researchers at the Carbone Cancer Center plan to use the model to study the effects of medicines and radiation techniques on non-small cell lung cancer.

Baschnagel has been at the Carbone Cancer Center since 2014.
