Mapi Group restructures to amplify patient’s voice in drug testing and design

In a move designed to boost efficiency and more closely focus on the patient experience, Mapi Group, a contract research organization for the pharmaceutical industry based in Lyon, France, has restructured operations to bring three divisions under one umbrella.

The reorganization unites the patient-centered outcomes, patient insight and engagement, and patient logistics teams under the direction of Chief Science Officer William C Maier, a June 19 release said.

Mapi, which has it U.S. offices in Lexington, Kentucky, assists pharmaceutical firms with clinical trials, regulatory compliance and other services involved with bringing new treatments to the marketplace.

"Mapi has been the industry innovator and leader in patient centered research longer than most CROs (contract research organizations) have existed " Maier said in the release.

Maier said the restructuring will allow tighter integration of the patient perspective into the services they provide for clients.

"Through this new business unit, we help our clients seamlessly integrate and align patient centered sciences, developing the most complete understanding of patients, their behavior and preferences,” Maier said the release.

At this month’s meeting of the Drug information Association, Maier and three other members of the newly unified team will discuss a slate of issues, including clinical trial design, treatment compliance and managing patient feedback into the process of creating new treatments, the release said.
