TransPerfect raises $20,000 to fight cancer

TransPerfect — the world’s largest privately held language service technology provider, based in New York — recently took steps to fight cancer by participating in the American Cancer Society "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" nationwide walk event.

TransPerfect raised $20,000 this year, the third successive time that it has taken part in the noncompetitive three-to-five-mile trek. The event links communities across the nation in a common goal to overcome breast cancer. Individually and in teams, walkers raise funds for the Society that in turn supports research, provides information and helps individuals lower their risk of diagnosis.

"Together, TransPerfect and the American Cancer Society are committed to finishing the fight against breast cancer," TransPerfect Co-CEO Liz Elting said. "Our employees are proud to form a team to help the American Cancer Society achieve their vision of a world without breast cancer."

The “Making Strides” program connects approximately 300 communities to celebrate survivors, honor those lost and raise funds to end the disease. Over 12 million people have participated in the event since 1993, raising more than $750 million. Anyone can participate as a walker, team leader or sponsor.

"The walk is one day … the fight is every day before and after," according to the American Cancer Society’s "Making Strides" website.

The American Cancer Society is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia.

"Our employees are proud to form a team to help the American Cancer Society achieve their vision of a world without breast cancer," TransPerfect Co-CEO Liz Elting said.
