AbbVie partners with famous soccer player for IBD awareness campaign

Brandi Chastain, the world-famous soccer player, recently partnered with AbbVie, a worldwide biopharmaceutical company, as part of an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) awareness campaign.

Chastain’s son recently received a Crohn’s disease diagnosis. Through the campaign’s My IBD Game Plan, Chastain hopes to share her story. Her goal is to encourage people with IBD to develop personalized plans for living with IBD.

As part of the educational campaign, there are now more resources and tools online at IBDGamePlan.com.

"When my son was diagnosed with Crohn's disease last year, I learned that having a game plan and a team to support you is key to managing the daily challenges associated with IBD," Chastain said. "I am partnering with AbbVie on My IBD Game Plan and sharing our family's experience in hope of helping others living with IBD feel empowered to work with their healthcare providers and support teams to live well with these diseases."

People who live with IBD can have Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis. There are approximately 1.6 million U.S. citizens who have IBD.

"We invite people who are living with IBD, and their caregivers, to hear Brandi's personal story and hopefully to be motivated to create a plan with their doctor that will help them manage what can be a challenging disease," Michael Norton, vice president of U.S. medical affairs for AbbVie, said. "My IBD Game Plan is part of AbbVie's commitment to have a remarkable impact on the lives of people living with serious diseases."
