Experts discuss lupus' effect on eye health

Dr. Jonathan Solomon recently discussed how lupus affects eye health with the Lupus Foundation of America.

Lupus, an autoimmune disease that affects any body part, can damage the eyes. Eye health complications may be because of lupus itself -- or perhaps an overlapping illness -- or sometimes a side effect of the lupus medication.

People who have lupus must be made aware of how the disease can affect their eyes. They should also know more about how to improve overall eye health while dealing with lupus.

Solomon is the refractive and cataract director of Solomon Eye Physicians & Surgeons. He is also the director of research at Bowie Vision Institute Dimensions Health Campus and the director of lens-based surgery at TLC Laser Eye Centers.

With his experience and specialty, Solomon is able to give expert advice about how lupus impacts eye health. He offers patients valuable information about how they can prevent health complications that can happen in their eyes. He also helps them understand how to maintain overall eye health.

The Lupus Foundation of America has made Solomon’s interview and presentation available to curious listeners online. If listeners have other questions about lupus, they are welcome to submit their questions to the Lupus Foundation of America’s health educators.
