Denver-based Evio Pharmacy Solutions brings a new approach to medicine affordability and medication experiences for patients.
Leveraging evidence and data from over 20 million patient experiences, the startup company offers a unique and enhanced medication acquisition process.
"Patient frustration with the system and disparities in health equity are higher than ever,” Hank Schlissberg, Evio's president and CEO, told Cision PR Newswire. “And the price of virtually every prescription drug is roughly double by the time a patient pays for it at the pharmacy counter than it was when the drug was shipped from its manufacturing site — without transparent benefits to the patient."
The independent pharmacy solution aims to make the medication experience satisfactory for everyone involved in the process. Evio focuses on assessing real-world evidence to present how a drug impacts patients, based on their experiences, various drug indications, different patient types and comorbidity combinations.
Blue Cross Blue Shield plans, which cover over 20 million members throughout the nation, are providing funding to support Evio’s venture.
Complementing other medication services of five not-for-profit health plan investors, Evio will provide services to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Blue Shield of California, Highmark, Inc., and Independence Blue Cross.
