Vidant Health names Zervos executive director of Vidant Cancer Care

Vidant Health recently announced that Dr. Emmanuel “Manny” Zervos, chief of surgical oncology at the Vidant Medical Center (VMC), has taken over as Vidant Cancer Care’s executive director.

“I am thrilled to have Dr. Zervos join us in this new role,” said Vidant Health CEO Dr. Mike Waldrum. “There is no one better to lead our Cancer Care team. His vast experience and expertise will continue to greatly benefit eastern North Carolina and the patients and families we serve.”

In addition to his role at VMC, Zervos is a professor at East Carolina University’s Brody School of Medicine and executive director of the Leo Jenkins Cancer Center, where he also serves as founding chief of the center’s Division of Surgical Oncology.

As executive director of Vidant Cancer Care, Zervos will manage cancer care throughout Vidant’s system in the region.

“I am excited to utilize the knowledge and experience I have gained over the past 10 years working in this system and serving patients with cancer in eastern North Carolina,” Zervos said. “The burden of cancer is so prevalent and one of the biggest public health issues we face in this region. I am humbled to have the opportunity to further develop and expand our cancer services, while working alongside a dedicated and talented team and others who are invested in supporting and fulfilling this mission.“
