Chef’d, ADA partner to develop diabetic-friendly meal kits, cookbook

Chef’d and the American Diabetes Association (ADA) recently agreed to a multi-year partnership that will focus on creating a cookbook of recipes for convenient, healthy meals -- in addition to meal kits -- for Americans living with diabetes.

Chef’d is the first and only online meal store in the U.S.; all of the recipes will use ingredients sourced and delivered at Chef’d. The company’s unique position enables it to create these first-of-its-kind meal-kit delivery systems for people with diabetes. Chef’d will start to deliver these goods on July 25 this year. Shipments will be made throughout the U.S.

The cookbook will be designed for pre-portioned meal kits. Balanced, easy-to-make meals can drastically change how Americans with diabetes are able to manage their illness. There are currently 30 million people who live with diabetes. Another 86 million people live with prediabetes.

"Eating well-balanced, nutritious meals is a crucial part of diabetes management, and is an important part of a healthy lifestyle for all Americans," Dr. Alicia McAuliffe-Fogarty, vice president of lifestyle management for the ADA, said. "Variety, choice and access to nutritious ingredients are key to making healthy meals a sustainable habit. The recipes that the Association creates feature popular ingredients and vibrant flavors with nutritional balance at the core. People living with diabetes and their families can enjoy an Association recipe knowing it's a healthy choice that doesn't sacrifice taste."
