Abbott adds services, tools to develop more efficient labs

Abbott recently announced that it plans to make a worldwide launch of its first installation of AlinIQ, a series of novel approaches that will improve diagnostics around the world within a few years.

AlinIQ is the first of its kind. Its informatics and professional services will help labs to improve their productivity from their current resources.

Abbott also plans to implement its next-generation systems for immunoassay, point-of-care testing, hematology, molecule diagnostics, blood screening and clinical chemistry. These features will be in addition to AlinIQ.

"Healthier hospitals -- and healthier patients -- begin with healthier labs,” Jaime Contreras, senior vice president of commercial operations at Abbott, said. “AlinIQ will help our lab partners transform their operations to maximize throughput and capacity, reduce unexpected downtime and better manage the flow of data throughout hospital networks. Abbott's goal is to help labs get the right diagnosis to patients at the right time so they may get back to doing what they love."

Each of the company’s new systems will include a consistent system design, intuitive interface and flexible automation to give customers a streamlined experience between the systems.

"Complementary services and support are critical for labs to successfully implement new technological advances," Contreras said. "This is why AlinIQ offers both professional services and informatics tools to help labs adapt within an ever changing business environment."
