Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton visited Sioux City, Iowa, on Jan. 5, where she led a town hall meeting to discuss her plans for autism initiatives.
Clinton's plan was developed with assistance from Autism Speaks representatives, the country's leading autism research and awareness organization. It includes an outline featuring components of public policy, state and federal advocacy and plans for science and research programs. Furthermore, it addresses the needs for housing, transition and employment services for Americans living with autism.
Autism Speaks has encouraged all the presidential candidates to formulate autism awareness plans and develop programs as part of their platforms.
