Men's Health Network, Air Conditioning Contractors of America partner for prostate awareness

The Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) has joined the Men’s Health Network (MHN) in a effort to promote public awareness of men’s health during September, Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.

The Arlington, Virginia-based ACCA, a nonprofit trade association, and the MHN, a nonprofit headquartered in Washington, D.C., formed the partnership to promote physical and mental wellness among men, especially those in the trades, a posting on the MHN website said.

“Prostate Awareness Month presents a great opportunity to announce this partnership … encouraging men, boys, and their families to engage in regular check-ups and healthy lifestyles,” MHN Vice President Ana Fadich said in the release, “(The) workplace remains one of the most crucial avenues for educating men about their health and wellness, and how that impacts their daily lives and productivity."

The two nonprofits will establish programs for ACCA members such as workplace testing, screenings, co-sponsored educational campaigns and social media initiatives with not just men in mind, but also boys and families. Additionally, MHN supports women’s health and wellness.

“ACCA is excited about this partnership because the Men’s Health Network has a wealth of health and wellness resources for men of all ages,” ACCA President and CEO Paul Stalknecht said in the release. “As the HVAC industry’s workforce ages, we need to ensure they have the information and resources available to maintain a healthy mind and body. Men’s Health Network also has wellness information available for the younger generation, who may be naive to the physical aspects of the skilled trades.”
