Alliance of Dedicated Cancer Centers honors congessman for cancer advocacy efforts

The Alliance of Dedicated Cancer Centers (ADCC) recently awarded U.S. Rep. Pat Tiberi (R-OH) with the ADCC Congressional Champions Award for his work regarding health care policy and cancer advocacy.

ADCC, a hospital alliance of cancer centers, honored Tiberi at a recent Medicare roundtable event hosted at the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC – James), a university release said. Ohio State President Michael Drake and Michael Caligiuri, director of OSUCCC – James and CEO of the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute, presented the congressman with the award.

“An increasing amount of cancer treatment is being provided in an outpatient setting, which is better for our patients and their families and more efficient, however, health care reimbursement policies had to be revised to make certain that insurers would continue to provide coverage for patients,” Caligiuri said. “Congressman Tiberi’s steadfast efforts have ensured – once again – that patients in our state have access to the specialized oncology services they need to best treat their cancer.”
