Cerus Endovascular's Contour Neurovascular System receives approval for sale in EU

Cerus Endovascular recently received approval to sell its Contour Neurovascular System in the European Union to treat brain aneurysms.

The Contour Neurovascular System cuts off and changes the direction of the movement of an aneurysm. Cerus Endovascular is testing the system with 45 people to see how secure it is to use to in treating unruptured aneurysms. Cerus Endovascular is conducting tests at four neurological facilities in the United Kingdom and at one neurological facility in Hungary.

Since the Contour Neurovascular System has received the CE Mark approval in the EU, Cerus Endovascular is planning a managed start of the sale in certain countries with CE marking via direct sales during the third quarter.

Cerus Endovascular intends to put the Contour Neurovascular System through more testing via a post-approval study and registry.

Cerus Endovascular is working on other medical products that will be used with the Contour Neurovascular System to treat neurological problems.

The company, which was founded in 2013, creates neuroradiology tools that fight neurological disorders that are severe and can kill people. The company particularly looks to battle brain aneurysms.
