University of Pittsburgh Medical Center continues string of making 'Most Wired' list

In a 700-participant survey, the American Hospital Association’s Health Forum has touted University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) as one of the “Most Wired” heath systems in the country.

“With the growth of cloud computing, the rise of machine learning and continual improvements in consumer-focused health care applications and devices, it has never been more important or more challenging to stay on the cutting edge of technological innovation,” UPMC Chief Information Officer Ed McCallister said in a release. “We’re pleased to be recognized again for our efforts to enable world-class care and insurance products through the smart use of technology.”

The survey considered how health systems across the country are using technology, incorporating and using technology at hospitals.. This includes "data analytic tools, telehealth systems and remote monitoring," according to the release.

"Over the past five years, UPMC has invested more than $1.5 billion in technology to support clinical excellence and administrative efficiency," the release said.
