Digital guide joins infectious disease fight

Merck has launched a digital component to its campaign to improve outcomes for people suffering from infectious diseases, the company announced recently.

ILÚM Health Solutions offers "enterprise-wide disease management tools and services," working independently from the company's vaccine and pharmaceutical products businesses, Merck said.

“We are pleased to offer ILÚM in the United States as a way to strategically partner with health systems to fight infectious diseases and combat the threat of antimicrobial resistance,” Guy Eiferman, managing director of Merck’s Healthcare Services & Solutions (HSS) group, said.

Merck said the goal of the new digital operation is to improve decision making and the use of antimicrobials via the use of existing hospital data.

“It is an important step for our Healthcare Services and Solutions business and complements Merck’s company-wide efforts to develop and deliver innovative approaches to address some of today’s most pressing health issues,” Eiferman said.
