AAFP launches Primary+ for continuing medical education efficiency

Long regarded as a hallmark in continuing medical education (CME) reporting services for its members, the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) recently introduced an upgrade called Primary+ for the benefit of primary care practitioners.

Improvements to its existing program were implemented based on feedback from member requests. The new Primary+ system contains enhancements for even better management and tracking of individual practitioners’ professional development records.

Designed exclusively for AAFP members, the Primary+ CME tool and professional portfolio allows participants to locate and document changes in their CME records, chronicle clinical procedures and stay abreast of professional requirements.

The Primary+ program piggybacks on the existing CME Reporter, adding an important feature that streamlines searches for accredited CME activities utilizing keywords and other information for enhanced results.

Based on member requests, improvements were also implemented for tracking credentials and cataloging clinical procedures, resulting in Procedure Tracker. Finally, a third component called Requirements Planner permits users to track obligations required by other organizations such as hospitals or licensing authorities.

Altogether, the combined upgrades aim to afford participating family physicians a simpler one-stop procedure, rendering their credentials easier to access and convey.

Headquartered in Leawood, Kansas, AAFP also maintains a Washington, D.C., office.
