American Health Council taps Floyd for board

With 14 years of nursing experience and plans for many more, Tamara Floyd of Florida recently joined the Nursing Board at the American Health Council to share her expertise in nursing, patient care and orthopedics.

 

Floyd earned her BSN from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona, and previously served as an orthopedic nurse navigator and program coordinator for a joint replacement program.

 

She works as a care system leader at Brooks Rehabilitation in Jacksonville, Florida, where she oversees system changes to integrate procedures in post-acute areas, focusing on patient communication. Her duties involve seeing to the Brooks mission of providing medically necessary skills to those who lack mobility to obtain medical care outside their homes.

 

Additionally, Floyd helps in assuring accountability for clinical practice and process integration in all settings to ensure a full spectrum of care for each patient.

 

A certified Orthopedic Nurse, Floyd is involved with the National Association of Orthopedic Nurses and the Orthopedic Nurse Board Recertification Committee. Strongly motivated to stay knowledgeable in her field, she also intends to pursue a master’s degree in nursing leadership within the next five years.

 

In her free time, Floyd enjoys hiking, horseback riding and traveling. She has visited all 50 states and over 30 nations on six continents, learning about many different cultures.

 

The American Health Council is based in Hauppauge, New York.
