LLS develops partnership for 'Light the Night' campaign

Local businesses have partnered with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) to sponsor the 2016 San Francisco "Light the Night Walk" campaign to save lives throughout the U.S.

The goal of Light the Night is to celebrate and memorialize the lives that cancer has touched. Finances from the walk help to sponsor life-saving support and research for people who are fighting blood cancers.

"The support of Salesforce and their generosity to LLS is instrumental in the fight against blood cancers," Kathleen Moore, Greater Bay Area Chapter executive director, said. "Their financial commitment will allow LLS to support cutting-edge cancer research and directly help families within the San Francisco and Greater Bay Area community."

Partners have pledged to fundraise a total of $1 million for 2016. The walk took place Thursday, Nov. 10, in AT&T Park. The 2016 Corporate Light the Night Walk chairperson is Cindy Robbins, Salesforce executive vice president of global employee success.

Other local companies supporting the walk include Subaru, Marsh & McLennan Companies, AIG, ABC7, The Zenith, Genentech and Wells Fargo Bank.

This annual event is a unique, strong statement about the importance of raising funds and awareness for LLS. The walk unites communities and families as they honor people who have been affected by blood cancer.
