AbbVie introduces scholarship for students with rheumatological conditions

A new scholarship is available through global biopharmaceutical firm AbbVie.

Students with rheumatological diseases are eligible for the AbbVie Rheumatology Scholarship. Fifteen scholarships worth $15,000 each will be awarded for the 2016-17 school year.

"At AbbVie, we go beyond the medicine by using our resources to improve health care and communities," Tracie Haas, vice president of corporate social responsibility, brand and communications for AbbVie, said. "By introducing the AbbVie Rheumatology Scholarship, we hope to support those living with rheumatologic diseases today, so that they can prepare to succeed tomorrow."

Rheumatological diseases include rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, psoriatic arthritis or ankylosing spondylitis.

Students living with these conditions can apply for the AbbVie Rheumatology Scholarship to continue their education at any accredited college, university or trade school in the U.S.

Applications are available at www.RheumScholarship.com; they must be received by April 4. Winners will be notified by April 29.
