Smiles for Life app aids family physicians diagnosing oral issues

The Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) recently introduced an app that aids family physicians in diagnosing and managing patients with oral and dental health problems.

After examining a patient with an oral issue, the physician can use the Smiles for Life app to select an algorithm that will provide a set of questions ultimately leading to detailed information on potential diagnoses and treatment options. The app also provides a photo gallery containing tooth and oral soft tissue findings for the physician to examine and help with diagnoses.

The free Smiles For Life app is available on both Android and Apple devices, via Google Play and iTunes, respectively.

This app is part of a larger effort by STFM to help physicians get more experience and knowledge relating to dental and oral health. The Smiles for Life program also offers eight online health courses that focus on oral health.
