Marchant introduces Protecting Seniors Access to Proper Care Act

For senior citizens, not being able to afford medications prescribed to them by their doctors can be an impediment to their health. In an effort to help seniors struggling with drug costs, U.S. Rep. Kenny Marchant of Texas has authored House Resolution 4062, called the Protecting Seniors Access to Proper Care Act.

“I introduced legislation to eliminate a costly Obamacare requirement that will layer more federal red tape onto doctors and threaten seniors’ access to prescription drugs they rely on,” Marchant said. “With the Protecting Seniors Access to Proper Care Act, we can ensure that unnecessary federal regulations will not force Medicare beneficiaries to stop seeing the medical professionals they know and trust."

The Affordable Care Act has made it so that that Medicare for Part D beneficiaries covers only drugs prescribed by providers that participate in the Medicare program. Should Marchant's resolution pass, that requirement would be lifted.

"This is a patient-focused solution that shows Congress is serious about restoring individual choice in health care, improving outcomes, and lowering costs," Marchant said. "Most importantly, the bill helps protect seniors and their doctors from the harmful impacts of Obamacare as we continue working to dismantle the law in its entirety.”
